No wonder Cong Ke calls his workshop in the mountain: Hidden
Dragon Studio
and this name was used way before Crouching Tiger and Hidden Dragon came out!
It's time for us to introduce Cong Ke in detail to our collectors. Born
in Da Guyun mountain in 1970. Studied wood carving with his father since he was 16 years
old. In the eighties when She county's inkstone industry was very prosperous, Cong Ke was
hired by two very well known arts and crafts factories as carving masters. He was the
first one came out of the mountain to become professional carvers. Because of him, many
others followed, like Guihai Ke, Xianhua Ye, Congyun Ke, and De Shen who died in the bus
accident. Cong Ke became very well known to inkstone dealers when his inkstone carvings
were collected and published in Taiwan magazines in 1992. In 1995, part of his
collective work was exhibited at Yi Hai Studio in Tunxi Lao Jie and was broadcastered by
Anhui TV station. When inkstone collecting was at it's pinnacle point in 1995, some of his
most fine work were sold for more than ten thousand American dollars at the twice a year
annual commerce show in Guangzhou. At that time, China just opened it's door economically,
all these old traditional crafts were very much appreciated by the Chinese descendants in
Hong Kong, Singapore, ...
He is one of the rare carvers who really combines a lot of the Hui traditional brick
carving, deep carving, hollow carving, ..... technique into one. All these years living a
humble and simple life with his wife and son in the mountain, he definitely formed his own
unique style and very much appreciated by our viewers!
