WOLF HAIR: The large Wolf Hair ($2.30) brush length 1 inch, 8 inch total size is an INCREDIBLE BRUSH! It has a beautiful point, so very delicate work is possible but it also has a nice strength when held vertically so strong clear small lines are also possible. For working on harder, western-style art paper this is a very good brush. I think it would also be an ideal watercolor brush. I also think you are selling them too cheaply!!! You could easily charge another dollar for each and they would still be a bargain! The brushmaker could make a little more money and you could make a little more money and people would be happy to pay that little bit more! Most western artists are used to paying at least $10.00 for an average quality brush of this size and much much more for a high quality brush like this one. I would like to order 10 of these!!! It's very strong small brush with good power! I like brushes that show strength when you hold them straight up and down but are supple when used at an angle. This one is is strong and very sensitive. It's one of the nicest brushes I've used in a long time.

The Small Wolf Hair ($2.10) brush length 3/4 inches, 7.5 inches total, the younger sister of the Large Wolf Hair is a little too soft for the kind of hard lines I make on western-style art paper but it is a very sweet brush. Perfect for detailed watercolor and lovely on rice paper.

The Premium Wolf Hair Brush ($3.00) brush length 1.25 inches, 9.25 inches total. This is a very sensitive brush with a thinner handle. On rice paper it is sensitive and flexible. It reminded me of dancing with a new partner who was a much better dancer than I was! I had to learn how to move sensitively with it. On hard western-style paper it may be too soft for the hard lines I make when I draw comic strips but that could also be my inexperience. It is a beautiful brush to hold, so delicate. Ideal for western-style water color too. I love it. I need more dancing practice with this brush!

BADGER HAIR The Badger Hair Painting Brush ($10.00) brush length 1.5 inches 10.5 inches total is fantastic. I adore this brush. I would love to have one just one size smaller, about the same as the large wolf hair. The stiffness of the hairs is perfect for making crisp lines. It seems like the kind of brush that gets nicer and nicer the more you use it. If it would be possible to get one size smaller I think that it would be a perfect brush for what I do.

Also the smallest Three Rabbit brushes. (With the white hair) are REALLY NICE! The fine lines I can get! Incredible! I could draw all the hairs on a mouse's chin with this one!

I've already used these brushes on the book I'm working on. It was a beautiful treat to receive these new brushes and I felt like an excited child when I got them! Thank you thank you! Once I finish the book I would like to make you a sample page of alternative uses of these brushes and Chinese ink on western-style paper. Maybe a few drawings and the alphabet drawn with each brush for the people who are interested in using Chinese ink to replace the India ink so many use now but are not satisfied with. A lot of illustrators and cartoonists would be very interested I think, because every cartoonist loves a good rich black and Chinese ink gives the richest black I've ever seen.

A friend of mine who is a calligrapher says that hand ground ink is perfect for the kind of calligraphy he does with a pen. I haven't tried it but I'd like to. Again, I hope this hasn't come too late. I'm so sorry for the delay!

Best Wishes to you from your friend with ink-stained fingers,

Lynda
